Dan Berger's Vintage Experiences
EXCEPTIONAL

Goldschmidt Vineyard 2001 Game Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Classic Napa Valley flavors with a lean entry, lots of black cherry in the mouth, and a thick, layered taste that needs aeration or a few years in the bottle.

Goldschmidt Vineyard 1999 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
"The Single Vineyard Selection differs from the Forefathers label despite sharing a vineyard source. This wine comes from a parcel with more gravel in the soil and is aged seven months longer in barrel. Smooth, rich and creamy, it shows intense anise, chocolate, currant, sage and mocha flavors. Gains intensity and depth with aeration, finishing with firm tannins."

"Smooth, lush and intense with plum, blackberry, chocolate and spice; dense, velvety and long with balance and finesse."

Dan Berger's Vintage Experiences
EXCEPTIONAL

Forefathers 2004 Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough New Zealand
More tropical fruit than gooseberry, but with attractive lime/grapefruit; a dry wine (unlike many with residual sugar), and a classic match with fish or mild cheeses.

Dan Berger's Vintage Experiences
EXCEPTIONAL

Forefathers 2002 Shiraz McLaren Vale Australia
Wonderful fruit aroma of cherry/plum, with notes of clove, spice and a solid core of fruit and great acidity. A stellar Australian red from a great wine maker. Best now with rich meat dishes.

Forefathers 2002 Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough New Zealand
"Bright and juicy, lively with citrusy acidity, but not overly so, offering pear and guava notes as the flavors linger effectively."

Forefathers 2002 Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough New Zealand
"Forward and stylish with gooseberry fruit, grass, turmeric spice and soft, lush floral components; smooth, rich and mellow."

Forefathers 2001 Shiraz McLaren Vale Australia
"New Zealand born Nick Goldschmidt, winemaker at Simi in California, and his New Zealand-born wife started this label as a home for their California Cabernet, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and this stunning Shiraz. It’s extraordinary rich and spicy, dripping with ultraripe blueberry, plum and currant fruit that lasts and lasts on the plush finish, polished but powerful. You could spend several times as much and not get nearly the kick."

Bon Appétit Magazine
