New World Wines
Goldschmidt Vineyards is the
realization of a concept: a winery in California
involved in wines
from the New World - California, New Zealand, Australia,
and South America. The wines are the
realization of Yolyn
and Nick Goldschmidt.
Nick is the corporate winemaker
for all of Allied Domecq's wineries around the
world, but based in Healdsburg, Sonoma
County, California.
Originally from New Zealand, Yolyn has spent time living
and working in the wine areas of New Zealand, South America,
and California. Goldschmidt Vineyards presents this concept
in three unique ways:

Single
Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Goldschmidt Vineyard Vyborny Vineyard Cabernet
Sauvignon comes from a single vineyard source on a
southeastern slope in the heart of the Alexander Valley.
The vineyard is situated on a knoll east of the town of Geyserville and is comprised of a gravelly loam soil
which allows for good control of irrigation producing
wines of rich, concentrated flavors. Excellent exposure
of the clusters combined with long hang time on the vine
yields grapes possessing optimal ripeness and maximum
varietal character. A wine encapsulating the unique
terroir of an excellent vineyard in an outstanding
wine-growing region for cabernet sauvignon.

A
Unique Concept
Forefathers Wines was the first brand released by Goldschmidt
Vineyard. It is a new idea in the area of winemaking
that has not really been explored -
the idea of using
grapes from the greatest appellations from around the world
where they grow best, and making wines representing those classic
characters all under one label!
The
Goldschmidt Vineyards' Philosophy
These wines are the creation of Yolyn
and Nick Goldschmidt.
Yolyn has been surrounded by winemakers from more than 15 years,
and has spent many evenings with Nick and her fellow winemaking
friends from around the world, tasting both the differences and
similarities in New World Wines. This gives her the opportunity to
stand in other winemakers' cellars and not ask "how?", but "why?".
Yolyn
believes that unless you talk to the winemaker in this
context, one can never get a grasp of what a particular
wine is about.
